He is trying to impress you and show you his achievements.

He isn’t likely going to come straight out and say it, so he is going to be very indirect about it hoping that you will will make the first move toward reuniting. You really need to pay attention only to how he behaves and not to what he says. Remember that old saying “actions speak louder than word.” If his actions tell you that he wants you back, I don’t care if he spends all day telling everyone how happy he is without you, he wants you back.
